Sergey Pchelintsev was born in the town of Brody, in the Lvov region of Ukraine in 1952.  He drew since his childhood.  After graduating from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts and majoring in design, he taught for 7 years.  It is during these years he began to paint.  He started in 1977 with book illustration then from 1982, he concentrated on industrial design, and from the mid 80’s, painting.

Like many other avant-garde artists from Minsk he was most influenced as an artist by surrealism (Dali, Tangu,y Delvo, Matride, and also by Czech and Baltic artists, and from Russian artists-Krasnopevtsov, Sitnikov, and of course by the most talented artist from Minsk--Nikolai Selyeshuk).  It is not a coincidence that so many artists influenced his art.  What he paints today is not a pure surrealism, but rather an “art of synthesis.” He combines in his art elements of surrealism and Russian fantastic realism.  “Recently,” he told me, “I am interested in 15th century art”.

In total, Sergey Pchelintsev participated in over 20 group exhibitions in Berlin and Vienna and Vilnius and Sophia[. . .].  He had solo exhibitions in France (Paris) and Norway.
